Delayed menstruation is a very common phenomenon among women. Under normal circumstances, menstruation can be delay for 7 days. If it is exceeded, it is a symptom of irregular menstruation. Every woman must understand the reasons for it for timely diagnosis and treatment. So what are the causes of delay menstruation?

    1. Pregnancy

If pregnancy occurs, menstruation stops. On the day when it is due, menstruation often fails, and symptoms such as increased frequency of urination, changes in appetite, vomiting, and nausea occur. Women of childbearing age should pay attention to whether they are pregnant if their menstruation is delay.

    2. Endocrine abnormalities

Endocrine abnormalities can easily lead to delayed menstruation. Common polycystic ovary syndrome, premature ovarian failure leads to delayed menstruation. If excessive obesity, hirsutism, female infertility, acne and other symptoms occur, women should check their endocrine function. Achieve early detection and early treatment.

Endocrine abnormalities are common gynecological diseases in women. How to treat it specifically depends on finding the cause.

    3. Excessive weight loss

Insufficient nutritional intake of women can also lead to delayed menstruation. Most women achieve weight loss through a small diet, which often leads to delayed menstruation due to insufficient nutritional intake. Excessive dieting and weight loss drugs can cause delayed menstruation. If the delay is short-lived, the menstrual cycle will naturally return to normal, but if the delay is long-term, medication is often require to normalize the menstrual cycle.

Women should lose weight reasonably. Do not overdiet or take hormone-rich weight loss pills. The best way to lose weight is to exercise.

    4. Taking birth control pills

Sudden discontinuation of birth control pills, especially long-acting oral contraceptive pills, can cause menstrual irregularities.

    5. Mental reasons

Excessive mental stress, grief, sadness, anger, lovelorn and other abnormal emotions often lead to delayed menstruation. This situation often causes breast swelling, pain, upset, and depression. Generally, no treatment is need. However, sometimes menstruation has been delay, and Chinese medicine can taken for syndrome differentiation and conditioning.

Delayed menstruation sometimes makes women feel upset, which may make it worse. If menstruation is delay, you can go to the hospital for examination according to the specific situation, keep a cheerful mood, pay attention to your diet, etc.

    6. Chronic diseases

Some diseases tend to be wasting diseases, depleting the body of nutrients. Lack of nutrients in the body causes delayed menstruation. Common ones include chronic hepatitis, tuberculosis, tumors, and hypothyroidism. Women often suffer from iron deficiency anemia, and these diseases can easily lead it.

    7. Surgical trauma

Uterine surgery, abortion surgery, etc. can cause cervical adhesions and lead to menstrual blood stasis, causing menstruation to be miss.
