As early autumn approaches, it is the season to eat dragon fruit. Pitaya, also known as red dragon fruit, jade dragon fruit, and yellow dragon fruit , is sweet, delicious, and has high nutritional value. It is a very popular tropical fruit.

Although it has high nutritional value, some people do not recommend eating it. Do you know? Read on!

    1. The efficacy and function of pitaya

    1. Improves Digestion

The sesame-like seeds in pitaya have the function of promoting gastrointestinal digestion.

    2. Antioxidant

It is rich in anthocyanins, a nutrient that is very rare in other foods. It is an antioxidant with obvious effects, and has antioxidant, anti-free radical, and anti-aging effects. It also inhibits brain cell degeneration and prevents dementia. It also has the effect of delaying aging for women.

    3. Dry heat and cough

It is very effective in treating and preventing diseases such as dry heat cough, hemoptysis, and cervical lymphadenopathy.

    4. Lose weight and maintain beauty

It is a low-calorie, high-fiber fruit, rich in water-soluble dietary fiber , so it has the effects of weight loss, lowering cholesterol, moisturizing the intestines, and preventing colorectal cancer. At the same time, dragon fruit contains oxygen free radical elimination and vitamin C, which has the effect of beautifying the skin.

    5. Protect gastric mucosa

It is rich in plant albumin, which is rare in general fruits and vegetables. This active plant albumin will automatically combine with heavy metal ions in the human body and be excreted through the excretory system, thereby playing a detoxifying role.

    2. Taboos on eating pitaya

There are many benefits of dragon fruit, but you need to pay attention to the following when eating it:

    1. It should not be eaten with milk to avoid affecting digestion.

    2. The sugar contained in it is mainly glucose, which is easy to absorb. Eating too much can easily increase blood sugar, so diabetics should not eat too much.

    3. It is slightly cool, so women with weak constitution, pale face, weak limbs, frequent diarrhea and other symptoms of cold constitution should not eat too much.

    4. Don’t eat it when you have your period. Women should not eat it during menstruation to avoid menstrual disorders.

    5. Pregnant women should be careful when eating it. Dragon fruit is rich in plant albumin, so pregnant women with allergies should eat it with caution.

    3. Three principles for selecting it

The heavier the better: The heavier the dragon fruit, the more juice it contains and the fuller the flesh is, so when buying dragon fruit, you should weigh the weight of a single ifruit with your hand, the heavier the better.

The redder the better: the redder the surface is, the better; the greener the part is, the fresher it is. If the green part turns yellow, it means it is no longer fresh.

The fatter the better: Don’t choose the skinny ones. The fatter the better, the more mature they are, and they will be sweet and not have a raw taste.
