How to choose a home ventilator ? Keep these points in mind

Home ventilator is a type of medical device, generally used to treat diseases such as chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, respiratory insufficiency, snoring, sleep apnea syndrome, etc. They can assist or improve human breathing, increase lung ventilation, and improve respiratory function.

Are ventilators useful? Yes, they are. But don’t buy a ventilator on your own just because you read my article and think you have a snoring problem or have COPD type II respiratory failure. That’s definitely not the right thing to do.

Ultimately, the doctor’s advice must be the final word. You can use my article as a reference. If you really meet the requirements described in the article, you can consult a doctor to see if you can try ventilator treatment.

Which type of home ventilator is better?

In fact, home ventilators are also divided into several types. For example, models with CPAP and APAP modes are mainly used to treat basic snoring and sleep apnea syndrome, while BPAP-ST is mainly used to treat chronic obstructive pulmonary disease and respiratory insufficiency.

At present, ventilators on the market can be divided into three categories:

CPAP

APAP

Bi-level ventilator (BPAP)

CPAP

This type of ventilator will provide the patient with a constant blowing pressure (this pressure will be adjusted before use and will not change with the patient’s breathing). Through the constant blowing pressure, a gas support is formed in the airway of the snoring patient, effectively preventing airway collapse causing sleep apnea, snoring, etc.

CPAP is sufficient to meet the treatment needs of snoring patients, but as a basic mode, its comfort level is poor.

APAP

This type of ventilator will adjust the treatment pressure according to whether the patient has sleep apnea. For example, if it senses that you have mild sleep apnea, it will increase the pressure slightly. If it senses that the sleep apnea is more serious, it will increase the pressure significantly.

In general, it is an upgraded version of CPAP, which is more comfortable and can be understood as a high-end ventilator for snoring.

Bi-level ventilator (BPAP)

This type of ventilator provides two bidirectional pressures, one for inhalation and one for exhalation. It helps patients expel carbon dioxide through pressure difference while assisting their breathing. This mode is mainly used for patients with cardiopulmonary diseases such as COPD and respiratory insufficiency. In addition, BPAP also has extended models such as S, T, and ST, which are suitable for different diseases. The specific selection depends on the severity of the disease and should be made under the guidance of a doctor.

BPAP machines can also be used to treat snoring, but overall this is an overkill, as machines used to treat respiratory diseases are more expensive.

Some people may say, I just want to know which domestic ventilator brands are reliable. Different people use different machines, and their feelings are also different. Under the premise of reliable quality, you should experience more and choose the one that suits you. Hong Kong-funded brands such as Hepule, Australia’s ResMed, Philips’ Respironics, and domestic brand Yuyue are all relatively common
