Is there a virus more terrifying than HIV in the world?
If there are viruses more terrifying than AIDS, there are quite a few. If we were to make a ranking of the most terrifying viruses, HIV would not even be in the top three. Let’s take a look at those scary viruses. (Of course this is my subjective ranking and I accept refutations)
First, influenza virus
Although influenza viruses occur every year, they do not seem to be serious. However, the influenza virus mutates every year, making it difficult for us to prevent it through vaccinations and other methods. Moreover, the influenza virus spreads through the air and is very easy to spread among people. And some mutations are extremely lethal. For example, the Spanish Flu pandemic of that year caused a total of 19 million deaths in a short period of time. This kind of destructive power is unmatched by HIV.
Second, Ebola virus
A few years ago, the Ebola virus broke out in West Africa, killing 8,000 people at one time. Several of my teachers have participated in medical aid teams to Africa and have been to affected areas.
I think this virus is more terrifying than HIV
It is highly contagious and has a high fatality rate. The mortality rate of infected people can even reach 90%. Patients infected with the virus will suffer multiple organ failure throughout the body and eventually die.
Biosafety level four is one level higher than HIV. The higher the level, the more terrifying the virus is.
Third, Marburg virus
A virus as deadly as Ebola currently has no effective prevention and treatment methods, and the mortality rate after infection can reach 100%. Also called green monkey virus, humans and primates, such as monkeys and orangutans, can get it.
The biosafety level is also level four.
Onset occurs within a week after infection. The patient will bleed from all over the body, have high fever, vomit, and usually die within a week.
An outbreak occurred in Africa in 2004, killing 300 people
It is relatively niche and is not as widely spread as AIDS, but its onset is very violent.
In addition, there are hantavirus, sars, avian influenza, and hepatitis B virus, each of which was a big devil in the past.
However, AIDS is now on a growing trend. Everyone still needs to keep themselves safe and be wary of this virus
