What is rosacea and what to do about it

The professional term for rosacea is actually rosacea . It is a chronic inflammatory skin disease with facial erythema and capillary dilation caused by our lifestyle habits, so we still have to pay great attention to it. This skin disease is more common in middle-aged people between 30 and 50 years old, and more common in women.

The parts where they occur are not limited to the nose, but generally exist on the tip and wings of the nose. In fact, they may also exist in other parts of the face. Patients with rosacea generally have seborrheic conditions and greasy faces.

What is rosacea

There are many causes of rosacea, both internal and external factors. The main internal cause is endocrine disorders, especially women in menopause should pay more attention to digestive tract disorders, and there are too many external factors. Inadequate facial care, incomplete cleaning, smoking, drinking and eating too much irritating food are all the reasons for its appearance, and Demodex and local repeated infection are the main reasons.

Long-term exposure to wind and sun without maintenance will only aggravate the occurrence of rosacea . We usually see that some people’s noses are red and bloodshot, which is basically what we call rosacea. The most obvious impact of this disease is damage to our face, and the indirect impact can also cause psychological disorders in patients. Why do some people get this disease?

Sunlight and heat

80% of rosacea patients complain of worsening or recurrence after sunlight, bathing and heat. This shows that external temperature stimulation causes blood vessels to dilate and peripheral blood vessels to exude, and potential inflammatory substances lead to degenerative changes in elastic fibers .

Infection

Studies have shown that there are more Demodex mites in rosacea patients than in normal skin, so Demodex infection is one of the causes of rosacea

Climate

Cold and some severe climate changes can cause vascular damage and connective tissue degeneration, resulting in chronic inflammation, blood stasis, passive dilation of the subpapillary venous plexus in the dermis, and rosacea.
Intrinsic causes of rosacea:

Lung meridian obstruction and low lung function

Especially lung heat, the heat in the lung meridian condenses in the nose, and the wind and cold evil poison invade the nose, resulting in the accumulation of evil heat, stagnation of qi and blood, and rosacea.

Gastrointestinal dysfunction and improper diet

Dampness and heat in the spleen and stomach . Generally speaking, people with rosacea are more likely to suffer from indigestion, constipation, diarrhea and gallbladder diseases . They often have a lack of gastric acid and gastroscopy shows atrophy of the jejunal mucosa. At the same time, stimulating diets such as wine, strong tea, coffee, cocoa, spicy food, etc. can also stimulate gastrointestinal dysfunction and promote the occurrence and development of rosacea.

In addition, impetuous mood, oily skin and clogged pores are also causes of rosacea.

Others This disease is more common in menopausal women and more common in men during adolescence. It may be related to endocrine changes. Alcoholism and spicy food can aggravate the disease or cause recurrence.

It is not impossible to get rid of rosacea, and the treatment method is relatively simple when it is not serious. The main treatment is anti-inflammatory and sterilization. We can use systematic treatment and choose antibiotics for treatment, such as metronidazole , tetracycline and clarithromycin , but we still have to follow the doctor’s advice and go to the hospital for examination. For those who have only a little bit in the early stage, you can use some anti-inflammatory ointments, such as clindamycin gel, benzoyl peroxide gel , fusidic acid cream and the mupirocin ointment we are very familiar with .

These can eliminate pustules. Frequent use can reduce its recurrence. You must pay attention to hygiene and eat more fruits and vegetables. Laser treatment can be used for capillary dilation, and for rosacea that has reached the rhinophyma stage , it can only be treated by surgical cutting.

But I have recovered with medication now. In fact, rosacea can be cured as long as it has not reached the rhinophyma stage. If you have any questions, you can add me as a friend for consultation.
