8 tips for our eyes health

We often compare the eyes to the “windows to the soul”. Bright eyes are the beginning of leaving a good impression on others. Nowadays, the pressure of work and study makes our eyes more and more fragile. Just like our health, the more overdraft we have on our eyes, the greater the damage.

1. Do not rub your eyes with your hands.

When their eyes feel uncomfortable, people subconsciously rub them with their hands. As everyone knows, hands have the most bacteria. A study in the United States found that a pair of unwashed hands may harbor hundreds of thousands of bacteria, which can cause various eye diseases, especially pinkeye. Therefore, never rub your eyes with dirty hands. If your eyes feel uncomfortable, wash your hands first, then close your eyes and press them gently. When there is a foreign body, do not rub your eyes with your hands. You should close your eyes first and wait until a large amount of tears flow out, then open your eyes and blink a few times. In most cases, the tears will flush out the foreign body.

2. Do not use eye drops indiscriminately.

Since many eye drops are over-the-counter, many people just drop a drop whenever their eyes feel uncomfortable, and the results get worse the more they use it. Do not use eye drops indiscriminately, and use them appropriately. Red eyes may not necessarily be inflammation, but may also be allergies. If you use anti-inflammatory eye drops, it will be more serious. Generally, eye drops larger than 0.4 ml in large packages contain preservatives. If the eyes are only dry and fatigued, we generally use preservative-free artificial tears.

3. Wear contact lenses with caution.

Contact lenses commonly used today are made of polymers and have poor oxygen permeability, which to a certain extent prevents the eyes from breathing oxygen directly and makes the cornea hypoxic. Once bacteria and viruses invade, they are particularly susceptible to infection. Therefore, we recommend that children wear orthokeratology lenses. Orthokeratology lenses are made of breathable hard contact lens materials, which can control the rapid growth of myopia without affecting the breathing of the cornea. It is recommended for adults to wear RGP glasses, which can not only ensure oxygen permeability, but also provide better optical correction effects for patients with high myopia, astigmatism and patients with anisometropia.

4. Never use your eyes continuously for more than 40 minutes.

Experts believe that correct eye habits are the most important thing to protect your eyes. If you use your eyes for more than 40 minutes at a time, you will rest for 10 minutes, look into the distance, or close your eyes and rest for a while, so that your eyes will not be easily tired and dry.

5. Wear sunglasses when going out

The eyes are easily attacked by ultraviolet rays. Not only will the skin around the eyes age, it will also have a certain impact on vision. Therefore, you should wear sunglasses whenever you go out, especially in summer or when you go to the seaside or mountains where ultraviolet rays are relatively strong.

6. Eat more yellow and green vegetables.
